TEXTILES

In order to cut any sewing pattern out, it is important to have an understanding of fabrics. There are two basic kinds of fabric. One is knit and the other is woven.

Knitted fabric is made with needles creating an INTERLOOPING STITCH out of yarn, which forms knitted fabric. Knits generally stretch. Perhaps you have seen someone sitting and knitting a sweater with knitting needles and a ball of yarn.
